Encounter trip to Chile
The encounter trip 2024 leads to Chile, "the elongated country" full of contrasts. The culture of the country is as rich as the landscape is diverse, ranging from untouched wilderness to endless expanses and pulsating life in the cities. In addition to the scenic sights, we will visit Mission 21 projects and church communities and get to know the country and its people. Optionally, the trip can be extended to Patagonia and Argentina.
"Reading the Bible with different eyes": an intercultural exchange on the climate crisis
Without realising it, we in the Global North read the Bible from a Eurocentric perspective. We receive completely different readings of the Bible from other parts of the world. What can we learn from these perspectives? Three theologians present contextual interpretations of the Bible and invite you to discuss the current climate crisis.

DARE RECONCILIATION ?!
For many of Mission 21's partner churches and organizations, interreligious and transcultural peace work is an existential issue, as they live and work in crisis and conflict regions. In 2023, Mission 21 therefore launched the International Forum for Interreligious and Transcultural Peacebuilding. The second edition of the International Forum took place on September 19 and 20, 2024, once again bringing together over 200 participants from four continents for an intensive exchange of ideas.
TRAUMA, FAITH AND PEACEBUILDING
Many of Mission 21's partner churches and organizations live in crisis and conflict regions. Therefore, interfaith and transcultural peacebuilding is a main topic of cooperation. The international forum, held on 17.-18. August, 2023, featured presentations and discussions on how peace initiatives from different contexts can support each other. The topic of the online forum was the role of religion and spirituality in dealing with trauma. In this dossier you will find documents on the presentations of the experts from our partner churches and organizations in Nigeria, Bolivia and Indonesia.
THE WEBINAR SERIES ON THE INTERTWINED HISTORY OF MISSION AND COLONIALISM
Mission 21 focuses on the complex history of missions, colonialism and slavery in order to sharpen the focus for the current social debate on racism and discrimination. The transparent and scientific reappraisal of missionary history is an important concern of Mission 21, and we support the critical examination of our history and the history of the Basel Mission.
