PROK, Presbyterian Church of the Republic of Korea
The Presbyterian Church of the Republic of Korea (PROK) is the joint partner church of Mission 21 and the EMS. The PROK was founded in 1953 and today has about 330,000 members. In 2008, it founded the Ecology Community Movement Center (ECMC) in response to the 2007 oil spill, when many pastors participated in beach cleanups and protests against large-scale construction projects. PROK remains heavily involved in the environmental movement to this day. In the future, Mission 21 would like to work more closely with PROK in the priority program to be expanded to overcome violence against women and children and to empower migrant women.
