LK3, Institute for the Study of Islam & Society
The Institute for the Study of Islam & Society makes a significant contribution to interfaith dialogue in the heavily Muslim South Kalimantan. LK3 has built up a strong interreligious network with an effective public relations work, which is perceived by many people and institutions. Furthermore, many social and environmental projects are initiated by LK3 in an interfaith way, for example tree planting campaigns, HIV prevention among young adults or income generation for women (in cooperation with GKE). LK3 has an inclusive approach. It is non-discriminatory, non-profit, non-partisan, non-political and participatory, pays attention to respect for individual human rights and advocates for people on the margins of society, such as single mothers or women in prison. Mission 21 co-finances selected projects of LK3 as part of its priority programs, in the areas of interfaith peacebuilding, income generation for women and overcoming violence.
