Fahmina Institute
Fahmina Institute works to promote democracy, grassroots community empowerment, education and justice in Indonesia. The non-governmental organization was founded in 2000 in Cirebon in West Java, shortly after the fall of the Suharto regime in 1998. Since its founding, the Fahmina Institute has developed into an important center for progressive Islam in Asia. Its education, research and social project work addresses issues such as gender justice, poverty, religious pluralism and political voice. In the search for answers to current social issues, the Fahmina Institute offers alternatives to radical religious movements. Religion is seen as a positive resource for social change.
Mission 21 cooperates with the Fahmina Institute in the project "Interreligious Cooperation for Peace and Justice" and supports in particular interreligious trainings for religious teachers.
