AsProNMeR, Association for the Promotion of Natural Healing Products and Natural Resources
The Association for the Promotion of Natural Medicine and Resources (AsProNMeR) is committed to the promotion of natural healing products, good environmental practices and the sustainable use of natural resources in north-eastern Nigeria. It was established in 2008 as part of the work of the rural development programme of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (EYN), a partner church of Mission 21. The organization has a particular interest in rural communities that have been severely affected by the Boko Haram conflict and poor environmental practices. Mission 21 has been working with AsProNMeR since 2010.
By building energy-efficient wood-burning stoves and recycling waste into charcoal briquettes, the aim is to reduce deforestation, end or reduce the risk of smoke and free women and girls from the burden of procuring scarce firewood. AsProNMeR has also achieved valuable successes by disseminating basic knowledge on environmentally friendly farming.
