ALFALIT, Literacy and Literature in Peru

ALFALIT organizes educational and literacy programs for adults and provides training for lecturers in Christian education. The organization develops high quality, professional educational services for public and private institutions and develops and publishes specialized educational materials. ALFALIT is recognized in Peru as an organization for bilingual literacy programs for women in marginal urban and rural areas. In 1983, ALFALIT received the International Literacy Award from UNESCO in recognition of its innovative literacy program, and in 2009, the Award for Literacy in Ibero-America, given by the Organization of Ibero-American States. ALFALIT is a Christian evangelical association of Christian churches and organizations and has been working in the promotion of adult education for over 50 years.
