AACC, All Africa Conference of Churches
The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) was founded in 1963 in Kampala, Uganda. It currently has 173 Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox, Pentecostal, and African Independent member churches and organizations from 40 countries, representing some 120 million Christians in Africa. Its headquarters are in Nairobi, Kenya, from where it extends its work across the continent. All of Mission 21's partner churches are either members of AACC themselves or have ties to it through their membership in their respective national councils of churches. AACC's vision is "Churches in Africa Together for Life, Peace, Justice and Dignity." Since its inception, AACC has supported African countries in the process of decolonization and nation-building and has been a major contributor to the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. The conference's advocacy work on behalf of the concerns of African churches and people has had a critical impact at the continental and international levels. Since 2008, there has been a partnership with Mission 21 that focuses on promoting theological work and education in Africa, as well as providing continuing education and support for leaders of Mission 21's African partner churches.
