2022: JointAction against Gender-Based Violence
From November 25 to December 10, 2022, we join the international campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence" and share questions, experiences and resources from our global network on Facebook and Instagram. We share voices from around the world about gender roles, equal opportunities, and ways to overcome gender-based violence.
Help with our campaign:
Share your questions, experiences, inspiration, or best practices for overcoming gender-based violence: Online form. We are excited to learn about the issue from your perspective and incorporate your input into our campaign. Become part of an international movement and contribute to the end of gender-based violence!
What is gender-based violence?
Gender-based violence is violence directed against a person because of their gender. Both women and men are affected by gender-based violence, but the majority of those affected are women and girls.
Forms of gender-based violence:
- Physical violence (e.g. assault, deprivation of liberty, etc.)
- Sexual violence (i.e. any sexual act without the consent of the other person).
- Psychological violence (e.g. coercion, insult, harassment, etc.)
- Economic violence (e.g., restricting access to finance, education, etc.)
Statistics:
- One in three women worldwide will be physically, sexually or otherwise abused during their lifetime. That's an estimated 736 million women and girls aged 15 and older.
- Most violence against women is perpetrated by their husbands or intimate partners (former or current).
- Globally, 81,000 women and girls were killed in 2020, and about 47,000 of them (58 percent) died at the hands of an intimate partner or family member.
- Less than 40 percent of women who experience violence seek help in any form. Less than 10 percent of those seeking help turn to the police.

2021: JointAction We eat the world
Food is vital, tradition-laden, political. With JointAction: We eat the world, we took a look at food around the world in the fall of 2021 and took a closer look at what people in different places eat, where the ingredients come from, and how it all relates to cultures, religion, and global justice.
Throughout the fall of 2021, we collected recipes from around the world in our network with stories, pictures or backgrounds on your favorite dishes and compiled them into a cookbook with inspirations from around the world. After presenting the different recipes and themes via Instagram and Facebook we offer the international recipe collection for free download here an. We wish you a lot of fun trying it out!
To wrap up this year's JointAction, we got together for an international meal and posted via our social media channels a video tutorial for a simple rice dish. You can find the full video here.
