"Picturing the Unknown: Stereotypes and Thought Patterns in International (“Development”) Cooperation"

In contrast to countries in the Global North, countries in the Global South are often portrayed as "underdeveloped" and in need of help. Such ideas of development are partly based on racist clichés with roots dating back to the colonial era. We will critically examine images and language in international ("development") cooperation and identify anti-racist alternatives.
