With the support of Mission 21, an old building was carefully renovated and equipped to be barrier-free. The pharmacy has a wide range of medicines. Actually, the Tanzanian state is responsible for the pharmaceutical supply in the hospitals. However, since this has not functioned reliably for some time, the hospital was forced to set up its own pharmacy. Pharmaceuticals are procured on the open market. This now guarantees that all important medications are available and that patients do not have to be turned away, as was the case in the past, because there are no anesthetics or painkillers in stock, for example. The pharmacy is an important step towards improving healthcare in Tanzania, because medicines save lives.
